Andy is a 53 year old father of three who started running ultra marathons aged 47. Over the last 6 years he has completed over twenty ultra marathons including the West Highland Way twice, Hardmoors 110 and 160 mile races and the Sandstone Way 120.

There is a background of road races from 10k to marathon and a number of fell and trail races up to marathon distance. Andy loves instructing and completed his Mountain Leaders Award in 2002, followed by Rock Climbing Instructors Award in 2005. Between 2001 and 2006 he spent every other weekend teaching young people from Northumberland on their Duke of Edinburgh Awards from bronze to Gold level, using North Wales, Scotland and the Northumberland fells and the Lakes as the classroom.

Andy has travelled extensively, trekking, climbing and running in the Alps, Nepal, New Zealand, Australia and led and assisted in leading expeditions to Bolivia and Ecuador. He loves sharing his love of the outdoors and is comfortable in the hills with energy to spare for instruction and good conversation!
